Oral surgery
As dentistry has moved on, oral surgery has come to mean more than taking out troublesome teeth. It also covers procedures that prepare the mouth for treatment in other fields, such as endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics and implantology.

Surgical treatment
We know that facing a surgical procedure is stressful. Your comfort comes first, so we do what we can to keep anxiety and pain to a minimum. We explain every stage of the procedure and what you may feel during it, so that you know what is coming next. We match the anaesthetic to the procedure: topical, infiltration or a nerve block.
Oral surgery procedures
Oral surgery is commonly associated with taking teeth out, wisdom teeth in particular, but our dentists offer a far wider range of treatments. Some of them, such as apicectomy or hemisection, make it possible to keep a tooth instead of removing it. Procedures we carry out include:
- Removing impacted teeth, or exposing them
- Removing wisdom teeth and other teeth
- Treating abscesses
- Apicectomy (root end surgery) and hemisection
- Closing an opening into the maxillary sinus
- Care after accidents and injuries: stabilising teeth and bone, repositioning teeth, splinting, suturing
- Gum surgery and frenectomy
More information
That range of experience has taught us that teeth should only be taken out as a last resort: a gap left without an implant affects the rest of the bite. So we always try to save a troublesome tooth and remove it only when there is no other option.
Before removing impacted wisdom teeth we take a CBCT 3D scan. It shows how the roots sit in relation to the nerve, so the risk can be assessed before the procedure begins rather than during it.
