Restorative treatment

Even with good oral hygiene and regular brushing, a small cavity can still appear. Even a minor one can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. There is no reason to put it off. Once a tooth is affected, it needs prompt and effective treatment, which stops the problem going any deeper: decay that reaches the pulp already calls for root canal treatment.

What is restorative treatment?

Restorative treatment is made up of straightforward steps: prevention, removing the damaged tissue and then rebuilding the part of a single tooth that decay has destroyed. Our dentists do this with a composite filling, colour matched to the shade of your enamel. The dentist brings back the original shape of the tooth, keeping both its appearance and the way it works in mind. You can be comfortable again and use your teeth as you always have, and we choose the shade of the filling so that it does not catch the eye when you smile. This is one of the basic procedures we carry out at the practice every day.

Restorative treatment is a broad subject and takes in veneers and rebuilding teeth with modern crowns as well, but we would rather not bury you in scientific vocabulary. We match the approach to the state of the particular tooth and talk it through with you as we go during the appointment. Every case is a little different and calls for its own approach, and we believe that is the only way treatment works well for the patient. Do have your teeth checked regularly: prevention matters and lets us pick up damage at an early stage.
