Dental X-rays
We take periapical and panoramic radiographs on site, on digital X-ray equipment. A panoramic image shows the whole mouth in one picture, so we can go through the treatment plan with you at the first appointment.

Digital X-ray, RVG ...
Dentistry has changed a great deal over the past three decades, in places almost beyond recognition. That progress brought a need for more precise diagnostic tools, imaging above all, and imaging is now a routine part of the examination. The methods range from plain X-rays to advanced techniques that support dental treatment, are painless for the patient and use lower radiation doses than traditional X-ray films.
Is imaging useful?
We think that dentists with tools of this kind can plan treatment more precisely, because they see what the naked eye cannot. Imaging shows the structure of the teeth in detail and picks up problems at an early stage. It gives the dentist a view of the roots and reveals details that are very hard, or simply impossible, to catch in a standard examination.
The move from film to digital radiography also made the whole process simpler and quicker, and it made images easy to store, send and retrieve. Three-dimensional imaging opened up the complex structures of the face and skull, both for examination and for early, accurate diagnosis.
CBCT 3D scans on site
Alongside periapical and panoramic radiographs, we take CBCT scans here at the practice, which give a three-dimensional image. Where an ordinary radiograph shows a flat shadow, a CBCT scan lets us view the same area in any cross section, measure the thickness of the bone and check the path of the nerve.
We use it mainly when planning implants, for impacted wisdom teeth and for difficult root canal treatment. The scan takes about fifteen seconds, and we look at the image with you during the same appointment.

More information
For these reasons imaging is a regular part of the first examination at our practice. It tells us more before treatment starts. Fewer surprises during a procedure mean a calmer appointment, and we can go through the plan with the patient over a real image instead of guesswork.
